The Burbank Senior Artists Colony is a significant example of Meta Housing’s innovation, creativity and industry leadership.

A first of its kind, this apartment community was designed as a completely creative, arts-inspired environment, this unique senior multifamily property offers residents a chance to actively participate in the arts at every turn.

Meta Housing Corporation drew upon important research on aging in order to develop this new concept in senior housing.

As a result of this research, Meta Housing took note of the change in the demands of older individuals.  Today’s older adults are no longer seeking a place to simply reside. Instead, they want communities where they are not just sitting in front of a television, but rather, they are flourishing by interacting with other like-minded individuals through active participation in the arts.

The Burbank Senior Arts Colony delivers this engaging, arts-focused environment to adults ages 55 and older.   The community offers live entertainment in an on-site performance theater, socialization in a Hollywood-themed clubhouse , as well as the opportunity to create in the property’s professionally equipped art studios.

In addition, residents benefit from lifelong learning programs, including poetry workshops, computer classes, fitness and wellness programs, writing classes and even a performance choir.

In order to deliver these new, arts-focused environments, Meta Housing collaborated with longtime partner, EngAGE, a non-profit organization which provides arts, wellness, lifelong learning, community building and intergenerational programs to thousands of seniors.

Together, Meta Housing and EngAGE have built on the inspiration that involvement in the arts and creativity can vastly improve the lives and health of older individuals.
