Metro @ Compton Senior Apartments is a 75-unit, sustainably designed and transit-oriented affordable multifamily community for seniors aged 55 and older.
The new apartment project is a transit-oriented development, located near public transportation in order to provide future residents a better, more walkable lifestyle in this urban neighborhood. The community is located within walking distance to the Martin Luther King Transit Center, several Los Angeles Metro bus stops, the light rail Metro Blue Line, as well as various local services, including a grocery store, bank, library, park, and the Compton Town Hall.
In addition to its close proximity to public transport and local businesses, the new Metro @ Compton community also provides its senior residents with direct access to Compton’s recently completed Senior Center. Situated directly across the street from the new Metro @ Compton development, the new Senior Center gives residents access to various classes, as well as assistance and opportunities for socializing.
The Metro @ Compton was planned as a Green Point Rated project, including a variety of sustainable features. The sustainably designed apartment community uses solar power and a photovoltaic system that will capture sunlight to heat water and to generate electricity for the building.
In addition, the community features a gray water system, through which water from the rinse cycles of the community’s on-site washing machines is be re-employed to also water the landscaping.
