Meta Housing has broken ground on Bell Creek Apartments, an 80-unit affordable housing community for families and individuals with special needs in the Los Angeles submarket of Canoga Park, California.
This new development stems from the increased need for affordable housing over the last several years, particularly in the Los Angeles area, where the median apartment rent is slightly below $2,500 per month. Median rents have continued to outpace median income growth, resulting in an increasing need for affordability. In fact, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority reports the average rent alone is almost half of the income earned by L.A. residents.
“The entire state of California has faced an overwhelming shortage of affordable housing for years now, ,” says Kasey Burke, President at Meta Housing. “We have seen this firsthand throughout Los Angeles County. There has been a gradual uptick in homelessness and the call for affordable options continues to increase. We work closely with cities to deliver exceptionally high-quality affordable units for residents who need it most.”
The new 79,200 square-foot development will be comprised of a mixture of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units.
Bell Creek Apartments will also include high-quality amenities such as a fitness center, open courtyards, recreation spaces to foster a sense of community, and ample parking reserved for those with disabilities.
The property will be located within one mile of multiple grocery stores, healthcare facilities, public transit, schools, and a local community center.
Bell Creek Apartments will be located at 6940 Owensmouth Avenue, Canoga Park, CA 91303.
