Meta Housing has broken ground on Hayward Mission, a 140-unit, transit-oriented affordable housing community for low-income families and individuals in the East Bay submarket of Hayward, California.

“Hayward Mission represents a tremendous first step for our firm to help combat the housing crisis in the Greater Bay Area,” states Kasey Burke, President at Meta Housing. “As San Francisco’s rental rates continue pushing residents to the East Bay and additional outskirts of the city, there is pent up demand for high quality, affordable developments in regions such as Hayward.”

Burke notes that the property is located adjacent to the South Hayward Bart Station, offering residents roughly a thirty-minute commute to San Francisco. Additionally, the property will feature approximately 1,800 square-feet of ground floor retail space that will enrich the community, as well as a proposed 2,700 square-foot daycare center to address the need for early childhood education options in the area.

Residents will enjoy additional on-site amenities including a large central courtyard, children’s play structure, community garden beds, movie wall, BBQ area, a bike storage room for up to 79 bikes, electric vehicle and car share parking, and a rideshare waiting room.

The five-story property offers 43 one-bedroom units, 55 two-bedroom units, and 42 three-bedroom units. The project is located at 29497-29553 Mission Blvd, in Hayward, California and is expected to be completed in April 2022.
