Meta Housing, in a joint venture partnership with Western Community Housing, has announced the development of Arboleda Apartments, a 74-unit, transit-oriented, affordable apartment community for seniors in La Puente, California.

The development will fill a deep need in the community by providing a safe and enriching environment with exceptionally high-quality amenities for low-income seniors, according to Kasey Burke, President of Meta Housing.

“Affordable senior housing in Los Angeles County will become increasingly more demanding, due to the approximately 73 million baby boomers approaching retirement,” says Burke. “It’s anticipated that by the year 2025, seniors will outnumber those 13 years and younger for the first time, and as developers we need to be prepared for this demographic shift.”

The new development is planned to feature amenities that encourage social engagement including a community room for residential programming, a ground-floor courtyard, a library, technology center, and second-story terrace. All features will be accessibly designed for residents with disabilities.

The apartment community will also be located within a quarter mile of public transportation and within a half mile of a grocery store, pharmacy, public park, medical clinic, and various stores and restaurants. Arboleda Apartments will offer 59 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom units, and one managers unit. The units will be spacious and feature fully equipped kitchens and private bathrooms. The property will be located at 1040 Unruh Avenue in La Puente, California.
